The Church of the Good Shepherd offers a variety of Christian education programs at 9:30 on Sunday mornings, between the 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Masses.

Melanie McGehee uses games, arts and crafts, music and Biblical story telling to teach a class that is designed for young people in grade school.

For the adults, Layne Waters leads a captivating lectionary course.

The children and youth classes are offered September through May; the adult lectionary class meets year-round.

And if you’re looking for something to do while the children are in Sunday school but don’t want to sit in on the lectionary class, we’d love for you to join us in praying the Rosary in the parish library. Those desiring a sacramental prayer experience will find the chapel open for Eucharistic Adoration.

In addition to our weekly classes, we periodically offer a book discussion for the women of the church, which typically takes place on the first Sunday of the month. The Daughters of the King also offer a six-week Sunday morning class for prospective members that focuses on the development of one's spiritual rule of life.

Robert Clawson and Father Lyon periodically teach five-week confirmation classes on Anglican history (9:30 a.m.) and the polity, the sacraments and liturgy (after 10:30 Mass). The classes welcome those preparing for confirmation, reaffirmation or reception as well as those who just want to brush up on our history and our practices. In addition, Father Lyon periodically instructs a Children’s Communion Class.

Parishioners also participate in annual study challenges, which involve simply signing up to read that year’s selected book. This year, members and friends of the parish are reading a daily lectionary study offered by the Church of England.

Students of all ages benefit from a variety of perspectives, so we’re always looking for additional teachers who have a love of learning and teaching. Safe Church training is required and is offered several times a year.
